Let Your Light Shine!

Let Your Light Shine!

John 8: 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Imagine sitting in a room with no light on. The curtains are closed and it’s night-time. It is so dark you cannot see your hand in front of your eyes. Then dawn comes, the sun begins to rise, and the room starts to slowly brighten as the light seeps through the curtains. You can see enough to open the curtains and when you do, because things had been so dark before, the light seems so bright. As your eyes adjust you look around the room and notice that it is very dirty and you start to clean up. As the sun rises the light gets brighter and reveals more and more dirt. What do you do?

So many Christians have a ‘this far and no further’ attitude towards Christ. They will only let His light penetrate so far into the rooms of their hearts because they are fearful or ashamed of what will be exposed to the light, or they want to hold on to the darkness of a grudge, or some hurt or pain, or can’t let go of some shame. But if you want to have the light of life He has to have full access to the darkest corner of every part of your heart.

When you let go of your fear and shame and give Him total access to your life you will truly know what it is to walk in His light.

John 8: 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

If you want to be fully free then you have to fully surrender to Christ and allow His light into your heart and life, and daily walk in His light.

1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;

Let His light shine in and through you!
