DID NOT OUR HEARTS BURN WITHIN US?
Transformed Hope – From Weariness to Burning Hearts
The seven‑mile walk to Emmaus must have felt heavy with disappointment. Hope deferred is exhausting. But once Jesus opened their eyes and vanished from their sight, something remarkable happened—they immediately turned back.
Weariness was replaced with urgency. Sorrow gave way to strength.
The road to Emmaus must have seemed so long and hard compared to the road back to Jerusalem.
“Did not our hearts burn within us?” they said. Hope had been resurrected.
They could not wait to get back to their fellow believers to testify to what had happened. The risen Saviour met with them, spoke to them, ate with them, opened their eyes and their hearts to the truth of who Christ is.
Waiting on the Lord does not drain us—it renews us; strengthens us. Isaiah’s promise rings true: those who wait on the Lord will run and not grow weary. When resurrection truth grips our hearts, energy returns, courage rises, and testimony overflows.
Pentecost power is not reserved for the strong—it is given to the weary who wait well. Let hope rise again. God is not finished with you yet.
