When Jesus Walks With Us and We Don’t Recognise Him

On the road to Emmaus, two disciples walked away from Jerusalem full of disappointment. They had hoped Jesus would redeem Israel—but instead they watched Him die. Confused and heartbroken, they walked home carrying grief rather than expectation.

And yet, Jesus walked right beside them.

What a striking picture of our own lives. So often, in seasons of pain, Jesus is nearer than we realise. He listens to our questions. He hears our confusion. He walks with us through sorrow—even when our eyes are clouded by grief and we can’t see Him.

The disciples had all the facts but drew the wrong conclusions. They knew the events, but not the plan. It wasn’t lack of information—it was lack of revelation.

When we wait on the Lord, He gently corrects our understanding. Through Scripture and presence, He reframes our story. What we thought was the end becomes the beginning of glory.

If today you feel alone on your journey, take courage. You may not recognise Him yet—but Jesus is walking with you.
