Why The Cross?

Why The Cross?

Easter is a wonderful time of year as we prepare to celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection from the dead, it’s a great time to reflect on what Jesus has done for the world, God sent His Son to die on a cross so we can be reconciled with the Father bringing healing and life eternal to those who make Jesus their Lord and saviour.

This is a wonderful gift given to us, Jesus went to the cross willingly; He was obedient even unto death, Jesus said “I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world.”

In Luke 4 (18-19)

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

Because He has anointed Me

To preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Praise God for His faithfulness and His Love for the world! God never wanted to be alone, He always wanted a companion so He created Adam, and made a partner for him in the garden of Eden and they had Gods favour and He walked with Adam and Eve every day.

Eve was deceived by the serpent and they ate from the tree in the middle of the garden. God had told them not to take from that Tree and eat, so they became naked before God; they had lost the favour of the Lord.

Throughout scripture God had promised to send his son
(Isaiah 53) Jesus was not well-formed, He was not handsome

And there was nothing that attracted Him to us: He was despised and not valued.

Isaiah 53: 3-4  He is despised and rejected by men,

A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

Surely He has borne our griefs

And carried our sorrows;

Yet we esteemed Him stricken,

Smitten by God, and afflicted.

Oh what great love is shown to us, a love that is so deep nothing can separate us from his love!

If you don’t know Jesus I pray that you will get to know Him, have a great Easter full of peace and joy, and it would be great to see you Easter Sunday for our resurrection Celebration!
